The senior section of Broughton Choir led the service at Liverpool Cathedral on
October 23rd 2011
What a good day at Liverpool! Thankyou to all the choristers for the quality of your performance in this vast building. Daniel Bishop, the Associate Organist at the Cathedral, was full of praise for our boys’ (and men’s!) singing and has kindly invited the choir to sing at Liverpool again next October.
The preacher at the morning Eucharist was ‘staggered’ both by the quality of the singing and the number of boys and young men present, and I know many parents were approached by regular members of the Liverpool congregation, expressing their approval of the music.
Thank you to everyone involved for your support yesterday.
RSCM National Cathedral Course at Peterborough
Three of our boys have been selected by the RSCM to sing on the National Cathedral Course at Peterborough.
Congratulations to Anthony Dean
To mark forty the completion of forty years service as a Chorister, Anthony Dean recently received the Bishop of Blackburn’s Award for long service at the Diocesan Festival. Anthony now joins Michael Hill, Michael Anson and John Tolley in this elite group of singers.

New Boys
No fewer than fifteen boys have successfully auditioned for places in the treble section of the Choir so far this year. We just don’t have enough room in our Stalls ... what’s more, we don’t have enough cassocks either! To date we have been able to admit just four.
To the other boys, please be patient; your turn will come!
Llandudno
Our boys certainly had a wonderful day in North Wales; fun on the beach; a tram ride to the top of Great Orme; spending money (lots!) and plenty of ice creams of course!
Diocesan Awards
It was a ‘Big Day’ recently for nine of our boys who received Diocesan Awards at Blackburn Cathedral.
No fewer than nineteen of our boys currently hold Diocesan Awards!
... and four of our gentlemen currently hold the Bishop’s Long Service Award.
National Awards
Our three St Nicholas Choristers have reason to be proud of their achievement in gaining this top national award.
Prize Winners
‘The Chorister of the Year’ and ten other boys were presented with prizes by Fr Sidney at this years annual Awards Evening and Hot Pot Supper.
Carol Singing
The December weather was certainly very seasonal and the sight of Choristers in red cassocks, with the odd snowball whistling through the air, made the scene on the Carol Singing Evening the stuff of Christmas cards. It was all great fun.
4,662 - Does this figure mean anything to you?
Perhaps not, but it’s the total number of attendances made at Church in 2010 by our Choristers!
